Time to unlearn the lies Welcome dear friends. May God bless you as you seek Him through His Word. All you have to do is turn on the news today to see that the signs of the times of the end of the world are being fulfilled in quick succession. Nearly everyday we see wars and rumours of wars, pestilence has been ravaging the world already for some time in many forms and of more recent COVID-19, natural disasters are happening more severely and in quick succession. God’s judgements are coming to all those who do not believe and follow His Word. According to the scriptures just prior to His coming there will be two classes of Christians. All fall asleep while waiting for the bridegroom. One class purchased extra oil without money and without price and when the call was made to go out and meet the bridegroom, they trimmed their lamps (the Word of God) and went out to meet Him. The other class we are told did not purchase enough oil and when the call was made their lamps went out and they were sitting in darkness and could not find their way because the road was too dark and narrow until the door was shut and when they arrived, they were locked out of the marriage and lost everything because God did not know them. Likewise, we are told that Babylon has fallen representing fallen Christianity that promotes man-made teachings and traditions over the Word of God. Jesus is calling us all out to trim our lamps to get ready for the marriage where Jesus will marry (unite) with His bride (the Church). Only those who purchase enough oil (faith in Gods’ Word to receive His Spirit), will be able to find their way because they trimmed their lamps (know the truth of Gods’ Word through His Spirit) to find their way to the marriage when the call is being made to go out and meet the bridegroom because the road is dark and narrow and will keep all those in darkness if their lamps (the truth of Gods Word) go out. The call is being made today dear friend. Have you trimmed your lamp? Do you know the truth of Gods’ Word or are you following in the lies we have been taught from the teachings and traditions of men that have led “the many” away from Gods’ Word to break the commandments of God leading many to sit in darkness when Jesus is calling us all back to His Word to worship Him in Spirit and in truth? These are questions we must all ask ourselves personally and only we can personally answer them prayerfully asking God are we ready? Do we know the truth of your Word Lord? How do I know that I am following God’s Word and not the man-made teachings and traditions of men that have led “the many” away from God and His Word to break the commandments of God? The latter according to Jesus are not worshiping God according to the scriptures (Matthew 15:3-9) Jesus is calling us all and says the hour is coming and NOW IS, that the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth. God is calling us all back to His Word to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. This thread is about unlearning the lies we have all been taught in Sunday schools and in regard to “Sunday worship” Which is a man-made teaching and tradition that has led many away from God and His Word. ............... QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION? 1. What are the lies we are being taught in Sunday school in regards to Gods' 10 commandments? 2. Where does it say in the scriptures that Sunday is "the Lords day"? 3. Where does it say in the scriptures that God's seventh day Sabbath has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day of rest? ​ ............... It's time to unlearn the lies we have all be fed and to seek Jesus for ourselves through His Word asking Jesus to teach us His Word so that we can know the truth of His Word personally for ourselves. God promises all of us... "You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart." - Jeremiah 29:13. God is calling us all to return to Him because he loves us and is not willing that any should perish *2 Peter 3:9. He promises that "if any man wants to know the truth of Gods' Word they will know if we turn away from the teachings of men and seek Him for it *John 7:17. All we need to do is ask him and believe His Word and claim His promises (see also John 16:13; John 14:26; John 7:17; 1 John 2:27; Hebrews 8:11). None of us should be afraid of coming to the light of Gods' Word to see if we are really in the faith of Gods' Word or not. Let God bless you through His Word. Hello dear friend. What are your thought? I believe that the scriptures teach that receiving God's Grace and salvation are all conditional on "believing and following" what Gods' Word says (present tense) but let me show why I believe this from the scriptures. GOD'S GRACE AND SALVATION ARE CONDITIONAL ON FAITH According to the scriptures, Gods' gift of eternal life is a free gift of God's grace that received through faith and there is nothing we can do to earn it *Ephesians 2:8-9. However Gods' free gift of Grace received through faith is a condition to receiving God's Grace. So if we do not have faith in Gods' Word *Romans 10:17 we cannot receive Gods' free gift of grace and everlasting life because faith is the conditions to receiving grace and whatsoever is not of faith is sin *Romans 14:23 and without faith it is impossible to please God *Hebrews 11:6. The bottom line is if we do not believe and follow what Gods' Word says which is genuine faith we will not see Gods' promise of Grace and everlasting life because we are still in our sins of unbelief according to the scriptures *Romans 14:23. GOD'S SALVATION IS CONDITIONAL TO BELIEVING AND OBEYING GOD'S WORD Believing.. John 3:36 [36], He that believes on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. Obeying.. Matthew 7:21 [21], Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Confession of sin.. 1 John 1:9 [9], If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Proverbs 29:13 13, He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:9 9, He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. Repentance of sin.. Acts of the Apostles 2:38 [38], Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts of the Apostles 5:32 [32], And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. Acts of the Apostles 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord Acts of the Apostles 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent Hebrews 10:26-27 [26], For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sin [27], But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. Let's look a little deeper, IS OUR SALVATION CONDITIONAL ON BELIEVING AND FOLLOWING WHAT GOD'S WORD SAYS? Let's now look at the conditional particle in the Hebrew and Greek scriptures translated in English as "IF" OLD TESTAMENT (not definitive) Hebrew meaning of “IF” “IF” (Hebrew) *H518; אם;'im; A primitive particle; used very widely as demonstrative, lo !; interrogitive, whether ?; or conditional, if, although ; also Oh that !, when ; hence as a negative, not: - (and, can-, doubtless, if, that) (not), + but, either, + except, + more (-over if, than), neither, nevertheless, nor, oh that, or, + save (only, -ing), seeing, since, sith, + surely (no more, none, not), though, + of a truth, + unless, + verily, when, whereas, whether, while, + yet. We must do well in order to be accepted... Genesis 4:7 “IF” (conditional) you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And to you shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him. Exodus 18:23 “IF” (conditional) thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace. Consequences for not believing and following... Genesis 20:7 Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for you, and you shall live: and “IF” (conditional) you restore her not, know you that you shall surely die, you, and all that are yours. Exodus 4:23 And I say to you, let my son go, that he may serve me: and “IF” (conditional) you refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay your son, even your firstborn. God's forgiveness is conditional... 1 John 1:9 [9], “IF” (conditional) we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Matthew 6:14-15 [14], For “IF” (conditional) you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: [15], But “IF” (conditional) you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Being a disciple we must follow what Jesus says... SOME CHALLENGING QUESTIONSWE SHOULD ALL ASK AND ANSWER FOR OURSELVES Now ask yourselves these questions and see if you have faith or unbelief? If God tells us not to have other Gods *Exodus 20:3 and we take to ourselves other Gods' of the things of this world and give them all of our time and love do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to make idols of the things in heaven and earth *Exodus 20:4-5 and we make idols and worship them do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to take His name in vain *Exodus 20:7 and we pretend to be Christian but do not live a Christian life do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us to Remember His Sabbath to keep it holy and we forget His Sabbath commandment *Exodus 20:8-11 and disobey it do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us to honor our parents *Exodus 20:12 and we dishonor them do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us we should not kill anyone *Exodus 20:13 and we go out and kill someone do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to commit adultery *Exodus 20:14 and we go and commit adultery in our hearts do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to steal *Exodus 20:15 and we go and steal something do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to lie *Exodus 20:16 and we go out and lie about someone do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? If God tells us not to covet others belongings *Exodus 20:17 and we go and covet our neighbors things do we show our faith to God or unbelief in Gods' Word? .................. WHAT IS COLOSSIANS 2:16 REFERRING TO? Many take this scripture out of chapter context, within scripture context and out of context to what Paul is quoting from in the old testament and the rest of the bible to try and teach that Gods' 4th commandment is a "shadow law" pointing to Christ. However, this teaching is not biblical but lets see why?. The scriptures say Colossians 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day (Feast day), or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days (plural): [17], Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. [KJV] If you prayerfully look at this topic in detail and not surface read the scripture and separate it from context like many do, you will find Colossians 2:16 is not a reference to Gods' 4th commandment of the 10 commandments but is a reference to the ceremonial "sabbaths" (plural) in the annual Feast days connected to the meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices that are shadow of things to come pointing to Jesus. Paul here is actually quoting old testament scriptures in regards to the annual Feast days and ceremonial laws and sabbaths and old covenant Sanctuary laws that were connected to these Feast days. I will show you examples of these shortly but let me ask, did you know that there was many different kinds of sabbaths (plural) in the Old Testament that were not God's 4th commandment? For example the annual Feast days included annual ceremonial sabbaths (plural) that unlike Gods' 4th commandment that is every "seventh day" *Exodus 20:10 on a continuous weekly cycle, the annual sabbaths in the Feast days could fall on any day of the week depending on the yearly cycle and were connected directly to the meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices and sin offerings pointing to Jesus. All these shadow laws of remission of sins including the meat and drink offerings the new moons and the annual sabbaths (plural) in he annual Feast days for example included; (1) Feast of Unleavened Bread (first and last day) *Leviticus 23:6-8 (2) Feast of Trumpets *Leviticus 23:24-25 (3) Day of Atonement *Leviticus 23:27-32 (4) Feast of Booths *Leviticus 23:34-36 (5) Feast of First Fruits *Leviticus 23:39 (6) Feast days of Holy convocation of no work (sabbaton Colossians 2:16 *Leviticus 23:7-8; 21;24; 27; 35-36 (7) Sabbath of years - Levitical 25:8-10 It is all these sabbaths (plural) that were connected to the old covenant earthly Sanctuary that were all shadows of things to come pointing to Jesus as the promised Messiah and Savoir of the world. It is impossible that Colossians 2:16 to be talking about Gods' 4th commandment for God's 4th commandment has never pointed forward to things to come but points backwards to the finished work of creation *see Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11. Gods' 4th commandment was also made before sin and before law when mankind was sinless and there was no need for a gospel pointing to Jesus because there was no sin when God made the Sabbath for all mankind (see Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3) only Adam and Eve created. Gods' 4th commandment points backwards to the finished work of creation (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11) not forward to things to come so cannot be a "shadow law" of anything. Paul in Colossians 2:16 is actually quoting old testament scriptures.. Colossians 2:16 [16], Let no man therefore judge you in (1) MEAT, OR IN DRINK, or in respect of an (2) HOLY DAY (Feast day), or of the (3) NEW MOON, or of the (4) SABBATH DAYS (plural): [17], Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. [KJV] What is Paul referring to from the old testament? Ezekiel 45:17-21, It shall be the prince’s duty to furnish the burnt offerings, (1) MEAT OFFERING AND DRINK OFFERINGS, at the (2) FEASTS, the (3) NEW MOONS, and the (4) SABBATHS, AT ALL THE APPOINTED (5) FEASTS OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL: He shall provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and peace offerings, to make atonement on behalf of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel. Thus says the Lord God; in the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young bullock without blemish, and cleanse the sanctuary: and the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering, and put it upon the posts of the house, and upon the four corners of the settle of the altar, and upon the posts of the gate of the inner court. and so thou shalt do the seventh day of the month for every one that erred, and for him that is simple: so shall ye reconcile the house. in the first month, in the fourteenth day of the month, ye shall have the Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten. 1 Chronicles 23:31 and whenever (1) BURNT OFFERINGS were presented to the LORD on the (4) SABBATHS, at the (3) NEW MOON (2) FEASTS AND AT THE APPOINTED FESTIVALS. They were to serve before the LORD regularly in the proper number and in the way prescribed for them. 2 Chronicles 2:4 [4] Now I am about to build a temple for the Name of the LORD my God and to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him, for setting out the consecrated bread regularly, and for making (1) BURNT OFFERINGS EVERY MORNING AND EVENING and on the (4) SABBATHS, AT THE (3) NEW MOONS AND AT THE APPOINTED (2) FESTIVALS of the LORD our God. This is a lasting ordinance for Israel. Numbers 28:8-10 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual BURNT OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING. Isaiah 1:10-14 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, THE CALLING OF ASSEMBLIES, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your new moons and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hates: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. Hosea 2:11 [11], I will stop her celebrations: her (2) YEARLY FESTIVALS, her (3) NEW MOONS, her (4) SABBATHS AND ALL HER (2) APPOINTED FESTIVALS. KEY POINTS TAKEN FROM THE SCRIPTURE Paul in Colossians 2:16 is quoting from old testament scriptures -Ezekiel 45:17-21; 1 Chronicles 23:31; 2 Chronicles 2:3 and Hosea 2:11. The scriptures are in reference to the sabbaths in the appointed annual Feasts -Ezekiel 45:17-21; 1 Chronicles 23:31; 2 Chronicles 2:4 The scripture context in Colossians 2:16 and the old testament scriptures Paul is quoting from is to the earthly Sanctuary laws of remission of sins from meat and drink offerings, new moons, and sabbaths (plural) in context to the annual Feast days which are all shadows of things to come. - Hosea 2:11; 2 Chronicles 2:4; Ezekiel 45:17-21. The earthly sanctuary was for the old covenant laws of remission of sins and animal sacrifices, new moons and sabbaths in the Feast days - 2 Chronicles 2:4 These were all to come to an end in Christ to who these shadow laws all pointed to as God's true sacrifice for the sins of the world - Hosea 2:11; Colossians 2:17. So what you can see here is that Paul is directly quoting old testament scriptures when quoting Colossians 2:16 that are referring to the annual ceremonial sabbaths connected to the Old testament Sanctuary system and the meat and drink offerings and animal sacrifices and old covenant laws for remission of sins linked to the sabbaths in the annual Feast days not Gods' 4th commandment which was Paul's custom in keeping according to the scriptures (Acts of the Apostles 17:2). Application to other new covenant scriptures... Hebrews 9:1; 9-12 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.... [9] WHICH WAS A FIGURE for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. HEBREWS 10:1-9 [1], FOR THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, AND NOT THE VERY IMAGE OF THE THINGS, CAN NEVER WITH THOSE SACRIFICES which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. [2], For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshipers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3], But in those SACRIFICES there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. [4], For it is not possible that THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND GOATS should take away sins. [5], Why when he comes into the world, he said, SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS YOU WOULD NOT BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME: [6], IN BURNT OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAVE HAD NO PLEASURE. All the above new covenant scriptures link in with Colossians 2:16 and the scriptures in the old testament they are referring to (Ezekiel 45:17-21, 1 Chronicles 23:31, Numbers 28:8-10, Isaiah 1:10-14, Hosea 2:11) in the meat and drink offerings, New Moons and the sabbaths in the annual Feast days and the earthly Sanctuary and its laws for remission of sins. Colossians 2:16 is not telling us that Gods' 4th commandment is abolished. .................. Or of the Sabbath days - Greek, “of the Sabbaths.” The word Sabbath in the Old Testament is applied not only to the seventh day, but to all the days of holy rest that were observed by the Hebrews, and particularly to the beginning and close of their great festivals. There is, doubtless, reference to those days in this place, since the word is used in the plural number, and the apostle does not refer particularly to the Sabbath properly so called. There is no evidence from this passage that he would teach that there was no obligation to observe any holy time, for there is not the slightest reason to believe that he meant to teach that one of the ten commandments had ceased to be binding on mankind. If he had used the word in the singular number - “the Sabbath,” it would then, of course, have been clear that he meant to teach that that commandment had ceased to be binding, and that a Sabbath was no longer to be observed. But the use of the term in the plural number, and the connection, show that he had his eye on the great number of days which were observed by the Hebrews as festivals, as a part of their ceremonial and typical law, and not to the moral law, or the Ten Commandments. Adam Clarke, states on the same passage: There is no intimation here that the Sabbath was done away, or that its moral use was superseded, by the introduction of Christianity. I have shown elsewhere that, Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, is a command of perpetual obligation, and can never be superseded but by the final termination of time. ...” - Adam Clarke, Colossians 2:16 Commentary. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary states: “... the sabbath — Omit “THE,” which is not in the Greek (compare Note, see on Gal_4:10). “SABBATHS” (not “the sabbaths”) of the day of atonement and feast of tabernacles have come to an end with the Jewish services to which they belonged (Lev_23:32, Lev_23:37-39). The weekly sabbath rests on a more permanent foundation, having been instituted in Paradise to commemorate the completion of creation in six days. Lev_23:38 expressly distinguished “the sabbath of the Lord” from the other sabbaths. A positive precept is right because it is commanded, and ceases to be obligatory when abrogated; a moral precept is commanded eternally, because it is eternally right. So let's look at the scriptures and ask ourselves the question what is the meaning of Peters vision in Acts of the Apostles 10:13-15 by looking at all the scripture contexts. Does Peters Vision mean we can now eat unclean foods? Or does Peters vision have a different meaning? To answer these questions we need to look not just at Acts of the Apostles 10:13-15 but include all the scripture context from Acts of the Apostles 10:1-28 so I am going to include it here so you can see and follow our discussion better as provided below. Acts of the Apostle 10:1-28 [1], There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, [2], A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. [3], He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. [4], And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. [5], And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: [6], He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do. [7], And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; [8], And when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa. TAKEN DIRECTLY FROM THE SCRIPTURES ABOVE There was a Gentile believer that loved and feared God - Acts of the Apostles 10:1-2 God gave this Gentile believer a vision and sent him an Angel when he was praying telling him that God had heard His prayers and to go to send men to the location of Peter and ask for him because he will tell him what he need to do to be saved. -Acts of the Apostles 10:3-6. So Cornelius the gentile believer told his servants about his vision and sent his servants to ask for Peter - Acts of the Apostles 10:7-8 Notice: what was happening next. Previously, God just sent a Gentile believer a vision to go and seek out Peter so that Peter could tell him what he must do to be saved. Now while Cornelius's servants were on their way to find Peter the scriptures continue..​ While the centurions servants were on their way to visit Peter, the next day as they were nearing the city where Peter lived, Peter went to pray on the housetop - Acts of the Apostles 10:9 Peter became very hungry and fell into a vision and saw a great sheet with all sorts of animals and birds and creeping things and a voice saying rise Peter kill and eat. Acts of the Apostles 10:10-13 Peter answered, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean. The voice replies what God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. Acts of the Apostles 10:14-15 This happened three times and Peter and Peter was doubting to himself the the vision was talking about eating unclean foods and at the same time Peter was thinking these thoughts the servant men from the Gentile believer arrives at Peter place asking for Peter - Acts of the Apostles 10:16-17 As Peter was thinking about the vision, the Spirit of God said to Peter three men seek you, go with them doubting nothing because I have sent them and he hears of the vision that the gentile believe Cornelius has to send for him and Peter goes to the house of Cornelius - Acts of the Apostles 10:18-23 Cornelius waiting for Peter and gathered his family and friend and when Peter came he tried to bow down and worship him which Peter tried to stop right away - Acts of the Apostles 10:24-26 Then they talked together and notice here what Peter says; and regards to the true meaning of Peters vision? "Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean." - Acts of the Apostles 10:28. ................ So there is the true meaning of Peter's vision right from the scripture context many disregard. That whole chapter is all connected. The two visions are all connected together. The meaning of Peter's vision is told us in Acts of the Apostles 10:28. It was a law of the Jews not to keep company with Gentiles from other nations as they were considered "unclean" but Peter says in regards to the meaning of his vision "But God has shown me that I should not call any man common or unclean". ............ PS. You might want to also consider here from my first post in Mark 7:19 with you on Jesus not saying [that he declared all food clean] is not written in the original Greek and Jesus never said this, that if Jesus did actually say this that Peter being one of His closest disciples to Jesus would know that Jesus said to him that it is now alright to eat unclean meat right? The fact that Peter never ate unclean foods and doubted the meaning of the vision is only more evidence that Jesus never taught to eat unclean foods and Jesus and the Apostles never ate unclean food and followed Gods' dietary laws. The answer is no but let me explain why from the scriptures as both the scripture context and the original Greek do not support this meaning of the scriptures but let me show you why I say this. The scripture your referring to is from Mark 7:19 [19] 19, Because it enters not into his heart, but into the belly, and goes out into the draught, purging [cleanses all meat; making all food clean] all meats? or Mark 7:18-19 18And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” [Thus he declared all foods clean.] What you will notice is that the words in the English brackets are not in the original Greek manuscripts. They were added in by some of the copyists or translators for some translations that are not in the Greek manuscripts so should not be in the bible. Lets show this further by looking at the Greek and the scripture contexts and the parallel gospel from Matthew. Greek... Mark 7:19 [19] ὅτι οὐκ εἰσπορεύεται αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν καρδίαν ἀλλʼ εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν, καὶ εἰς τὸν ἀφεδρῶνα ἐκπορεύεται;—καθαρίζων πάντα τὰ βρώματα. If you notice the English translation in brackets [Thus he (Jesus) declared all food clean] is not in the original Greek. It was added in by a copyist or translator. The Greek text for Mark 7:19 in the ‘Textus Receptus’ is as follows and can be seen here linked. Mark 7:19 οτι ουκ ειϲπορευετε αυτου ειϲ την καρδιαν αλλ ειϲ την κοιλιαν και ειϲ τον αφεδρωνα εκβαλλετε καθαριζων παντα τα βρωματα. Strong’s G1544, is εκβαλλετε/ekballo, which Thayer’s Greek Lexicon states as: to cast out; to drive out; to send out. This is used instead of Strong’s G1607, εκπορευεται/ekporeuomai which Thayer’s Greek Lexicon states as: to go forth, go out, depart. As you can see, these are very similar terms. Again, the “Dietary Law – changing” words “[thus he declared all foods clean]”, were not spoken by Jesus, they are not in the original Greek! They are nowhere to be found in any manuscript! Also you can check this further by looking at the parallel gospel verse from Matthew which is the exact same topic and subject matter found in Matthew 15:17 where it does not agree with how Mark 7:19 is translated either. Take a look Matthew 15:17 “Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast-out into the draught (i.e. sink)?” (KJV) Matthew 15:17 “Do ye not understand that all that is going into the mouth doth pass into the belly, and into the drain (i.e. sewer) is cast-forth?” (YLT) .................. Now the above is only on the original Greek word meanings showing that they are not in the original Greek which in some translations that include these words they are in brackets or [ ]. Now we can look at the scripture contexts to see what the context and subject matter is about now that we can see what the parallel gospels are talking about. If you read the scriptures from Matthew 15:11-20 you will see that it is talking about evil thought defiling the man making us unclean not food *Matthew 15:18-20. The topic of conversation was brought up because the Pharisees said to Jesus; Matthew 15:2, Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. So this was a reference to washing your hands before you eat not a reference to all meats are now clean to eat. Using the single Greek word καθαρίζον which means "purify; cleanse make clean" (declared being added by the translators) is in context in the scripture to the word ἐκπορεύομαι which means to go out of the body or purge and after of course πάντα βρώματα (all food). The chapter context of course is to not washing of cups and pots and hands making someone κοινόω unclean or defiled not "unclean foods" which is how many mistakenly interpret Mark 7:19 *see Mark 7:2-5; Mark 7:2-23. The point of the scripture being discussed here is to the chapter context and subject matter and the original Greek and comparative gospels, is that is is regards to eating with unwashed hands and is in reference to the "washing of pots and cups and not washing of the hands that makes a man unclean (defiled)" (Mark 7:8) but breaking God's commandments and what comes out of the heart and mouth of the man that defiles (makes unclean) a man. The context of making all meats clean is to the "purging out of the body (impurities)" and it is to following man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God over the Word of God that JESUS says defiles (makes unclean) the man, not what one eats with "unwashed hands" which passes out of the man *Mark 7:2-23. The chapter subject matter is not to eating unclean foods as they were all JEWS who followed the food laws of Leviticus 11; Deuteronomy 14 but the subject matter was to eating food with unwashed hands and unwashed pots and cups *Mark 7:2-5. ............... I will stop here to ask does this make sense and do you have any questions? I will also finish this post by saying that if you really want to know the truth of Gods' Word on any subject you must ask Jesus and seek Jesus through His Word for yourself claiming His promises that he will guide and teach you found in John 16:13; John 7:17; John 14:26; 1 John 2:27. We can only find and know the truth of Gods' Word as He guides us with His Spirit that he promises to give all those who seek him and claim His promises through faith. Welcome everyone! In this discussion we will be looking at the question, who is Gods' Israel in the new covenant scriptures. So let's start be seeing where the name Israel because many seem to be of the view that Israel is about the old covenant when in reality the scriptures teach that the name "Israel" is independent of the old and new covenants and simply only a name given by God to His people that the scriptures define as all those who believe and follow what Gods' Word says. Let's start by looking at the origin of the name and how God gave it to His people. ORIGIN OF ISRAEL AND THE TWELVE TRIBES. The promise of God to Abraham that his descendants would be as the sand of the sea or start of heaven… GENESIS 22:15-18 [15], And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, [16], And said, By myself have I sworn, says the LORD, for because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son: [17], That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies; [18], And in your descendants shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice. Jacob a descendant of Abraham being 2nd born received the birth right from Esau... GENESIS 25:31 [31], And Jacob said, Sell me this day your birthright. [32], And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point of death: and what profit shall this birthright be to me? The name "Israel" is only a name given by God himself to represent his people. The origin of the name "Israel" come from Genesis 32:28 where Jacob wrestled with the Angel and prevailed ...for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. Its meaning is his posterity will rule as God. Jacob had 12 sons representing the 12 tribes of Israel. ISRAEL (God’s new name given to Jacob) had 12 sons which make up the 12 tribes of ISRAEL GENESIS 35:22-26 [22], ... Now the sons of Jacob were twelve: [23], The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun: [24], The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin: [25], And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali: [26], And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, who were born to him in Paddanaram. Yeps, seems like God’s people are called ISRAEL in both the OLD AND NEW Testament scriptures and the END OF TIME events John is describing in REVELATION 7. God only holds us accountable for sin once he gives us a knowledge of the truth of Gods' Word at which time he calls us to believe and follow what His Word says ................. WHAT IS THE PENALTY FOR THOSE WHO CONTINUE IN KNOWN SIN WHEN WE HAVE RECEIVED A KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH OF GOD'S WORD? HEBREWS 10:26-39 [26], FOR IF WE SIN WILLFULLY AFTER THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH, THERE REMAINS NO MORE SACRIFICE FOR SINS, [27], BUT A CERTAIN FEARFUL LOOKING FOR OF JUDGMENT AND FIERY INDIGNATION, WHICH SHALL DEVOUR THE ADVERSARIES. ROMANS 8:13, FOR IF YOU LIVE AFTER THE FLESH YOU WILL DIE: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. ROMANS 6:23 THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH but the gift of God is s eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If we continue in unbelief and known unrepentant sin there remains no more sacrifice for sins and Gods' forgiveness for sin because we are continuing to practice sin and not believe and follow what Gods' Word says and we are in danger of the judgement because choose our sins over believing and following what Gods' Word says. ................. WHO THEN HAS GOD'S MERCY? PROVERBS 28:13, HE THAT COVERS HIS SINS SHALL NOT PROSPER: BUT WHOEVER CONFESSES AND FORSAKES THEM SHALL HAVE MERCY. 1 JOHN 2:1 1, My little children, these things write I to you, THAT YOU SIN NOT. AND IF ANY MAN SIN, WE HAVE AN ADVOCATE WITH THE FATHER, JESUS CHRIST THE RIGHTEOUS 1 JOHN 1:9, IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS, AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. It is not God's will that we sin but if any many sin we have an advocate with the father Jesus Christ the righteous (1 John 2:1-2) and if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us for our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (see 1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13). Go to Jesus now just as you are do not wait as there is nothing you can do to make yourself right with God. Jesus knows this and because he loves you has paid the price for your sins already and offers you His forgiveness without money and without price as a free gift *Ephesians 2:8-9. God's forgiveness is yours today. All you need to do to receive it is to hold out your hand of faith by continual believing in the very Words of Jesus, confess your sins to him and go and sin no more. ................. HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU KNOW GOD? 1 JOHN 2:1-4 [1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: [2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. [3] AND HEREBY WE DO KNOW THAT WE KNOW HIM, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. [4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Those who know God believe and follow Gods' Word and keep or obey Gods' commandments not because they are saved by the law but because they love Jesus *John 14:15 and have been born again *1 John 3:4-9 to walk in God's Spirit of love *Galatians 5:16, through faith * 1 John 5:2-4 and have entered into Gods' new covenant promise (see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:24-27). ................. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE CHILDREN OF GOD AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL? 1 JOHN 3:3-10 [3], And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure. [4], WHOEVER COMMITS SIN TRANSGRESSES ALSO THE LAW: FOR SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW. [5], And you know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. [6], WHOEVER STAYS IN HIM SINS NOT: WHOEVER SINS HAS NOT SEEN HIM, NEITHER KNOWN HIM. [7], LITTLE CHILDREN, LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU: HE THAT DOES RIGHTEOUSNESS IS RIGHTEOUS, EVEN AS HE IS RIGHTEOUS. The children of God do not practice sin which is defined in the scriptures as breaking anyone of God's 10 commandments and not believing and following what Gods' Word says. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest or revealed. Gods' children believe and obey Gods' Word and keep His commandments. The children of the devil continue in unbelief and sin. ................. WHO ARE GOD'S PEOPLE? REVELATION 12:17, [17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ REVELATION 14:12, HERE IS THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS: HERE ARE THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD, AND THE FAITH OF JESUS. REVELATION 22:14, BLESSED ARE THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE, AND MAY ENTER IN THROUGH THE GATES INTO THE CITY. Gods' saints as also shown earlier keep all the commandments of God through faith in Jesus and are the ones blessed with everlasting life. This also includes God's 4th commandment which is a sign to God's people that the God of creation is saving His people from sin (see Exodus 31:13; Ezekiel 20:12; Ezekiel 20:20) .................. WHO HAS GOD'S SPIRIT? ACTS 5:32, And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN TO THEM WHO OBEY HIM. God's Spirit is only given to all those who obey Him and are living up to all the knowledge that God has revealed to them through His Word. .................. DO YOU WANT ETERNAL LIFE? MATTHEW 19:16 [16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, GOOD MASTER, WHAT GOOD THING SHALL I DO, THAT I MAY HAVE ETERNAL LIFE?[17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS.[18] He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Ask God to come into your life and keep all the commandments of God .................. HAVE YOU BEEN TAUGHT “JUST BELIEVE” ALONE WITHOUT FOLLOWING WHAT GOD'S WORD SAYS AND YOU WILL BE SAVED? JAMES 2:16-26 [16], And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? [17], Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18], Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. [19] Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: THE DEVILS ALSO BELIEVE, and tremble. [20], But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? [21], Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? [22], Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? JOHN 14:15 If you love me KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS Believing Gods' Word without obeying what Gods' Word says is simply the dead faith of devils. Genuine faith therefore believe and obeys what Gods' Word says. .................. DO YOU LOVE GOD? JOHN 5:42 But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you. 1 JOHN 5:1-3 [1] Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him. [2] BY THIS WE KNOW THAT WE LOVE THE CHILDREN OF GOD, WHEN WE LOVE GOD, AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. [3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. JOHN 14:15 [15] IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS. JOHN 15:10 [10], If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. Without Jesus we do not have the love of God in us. Jesus says He knows us. Since we have all fallen into sin we cannot love God unless God changes our hearts to love Him. We need Jesus to give us a knew heart that loves and this is the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and Gods' new covenant promise which is given to all those who through faith believe and follow what God's Word says (see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 36:24-27. We show our love to God by believing and following what His Word says. God gives us His Spirit so we can obey Him as we believe His promises to us .................. CAN WE HAVE GODS SPIRIT WITHOUT OBEYING WHAT GODS WORD SAYS WHILE LIVING IN KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN AND UNBELIEF? ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 5:32 32, And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN TO THEM THAT OBEY HIM. DO YOU WANT GODS HOLY SPIRIT? In times of ignorance when we do not know any better God winks at but when he gives us a knowledge of the truth through His Word calls all of us to believe and follow what HIs Word says. If at this time we reject God's Word to continue in known unrepentant sin and unbelief we can grieve and quench (put out) God's Spirit so that God will no longer hear us (see Proverb 28:9). .................. ARE YOU BEING TAUGHT GOD’S LAW (10 Commandments) HAS PASSED AWAY? MATTHEW 5:17-18 [17] THINK NOT THAT I AM COME TO DESTROY THE LAW, OR THE PROPHETS: I AM NOT COME TO DESTROY, but to fulfill. [18] For verily I say unto you, TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS, ONE JOT OR ONE TITTLE SHALL IN NO WISE PASS FROM THE LAW, till all be fulfilled. ROMANS 8:4 [4], That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. ROMANS 3:20 [20], Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. ROMANS 7:7 [7], What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet. ROMANS 3:31 [31], Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish the law. JAMES 2:10-11 For WHOEVER SHALL KEEP THE WHOLE LAW, AND YET OFFEND IN ONE POINT, HE IS GUILTY OF ALL. [11], For he that said, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, SAID ALSO, DO NOT KILL. NOW IF YOU COMMIT NO ADULTERY, YET IF YOU KILL, YOU ARE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF THE LAW. According to the scriptures Gods' law has the same role in the new covenant that it did in the old covenant and that is to give us the knowledge of good (moral right doing) when obeyed and evil (moral wrong doing) when disobeyed. Sin (moral wrong doing) when broken and righteousness (moral right doing) when obeyed. Their role in the new covenant is to show us that we are all sinners and to lead us to Christ that we might be forgiven through Gods' grace (Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 3:22-25) so we can be born again into God's new covenant promise (see Hebrews 8:10-12; from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36-24-27; John 3:3-7; 1 John 3:4-9) so we can walk in newness of life in Gods' Spirit (Galatians 5:16; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 6:1-23). Gods' 10 commandments therefore have not been abolished. God wants to establish them in our hearts so that we can love God and our fellow man. .................. DOES GOD HEAR OUR PRAYERS IF WE A KNOWINGLY BREAKING ANYONE OF HIS LAWS? PROVERBS 28:9, HE THAT TURNS AWAY HIS EAR FROM HEARING THE LAW, EVEN HIS PRAYER SHALL BE ABOMINATION. PROVERBS 28:13, HE THAT COVERS HIS SINS SHALL NOT PROSPER: BUT WHOEVER CONFESSES AND FORSAKES THEM SHALL HAVE MERCY. The key word here is "knowingly" in times of ignorance God winks at. He knows us and what has been falsely taught to us in our own lives and in times of ignorance God does not hold us accountable for sin and unbelief until he gives us a knowledge of the truth through His Word. At this time if we reject Gods' Word and continue in known unrepentant sin and unbelief God holds us accountable for our sins and sill not hear us until we return to Him in confession of sin and repentance of sin. ................ However, it is the Law of God that is our school master the shows us that we are all sinners and in need of salvation from sin and that the wages of sin is death. The Law of God leads us to the foot of the cross where we can behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world! It is here, as we have complete dependence on the Word of God, and by Faith (believing what God says) simply cling to the promises of God, that forgiveness is claimed. It is by continuing in the Word of God by complete dependence on the Word of God to do what it says it will do that allows Jesus to work in us so that we can follow him and by Faith Keep all of His commandments because He alone has written His Laws in our Heart (new covenant). If there is no Law anymore there is no knowledge of sin because sin is the transgression of God's Law (1 John 3:4). If there is no knowledge of sin there is no need of a Savior. If there is no need of a Savior there is no salvation. The person is simply lost because God's Word tells us "For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law." (Romans 2:12). Hope this helps those that love God's Word and want to follow Jesus. God's Word clearly describe who His people are. Welcome everyone! So what is the difference between the love, mercy, and grace of God and Gods justice and judgement for sin and how do they reveal Gods' love? We read in Ephesians 2:4-5, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;).” This is such a wonderful scripture because it combines all three: Paul says that God is rich in mercy, and because of His great love for us, He saves us by grace. What is the love of God? Well, God is love * 1 John 4:16. Before anything was created, God was love. Love is the nature of God; Love is Gods' character and who God is. But the interesting thing is that the love of God never saved a sinner. The love of God (his character) moved God into action to give all who would receive it His love, expressed through His mercy and grace. What is the difference between mercy and grace? “Mercy…is that in God which duly provided for the need of sinful man.” God is rich in mercy *Ephesians 2:4. Why is He rich in mercy? Because He is love and loves us because God is love. He, by His mercy, provided for the need of sinful man. But mercy didn’t save man. It is Gods' great love for man that leads to Gods' mercy and forgiveness of sins. We are all sinners who cannot provide anything to God. We haven’t anything to offer to Him. But grace means that God can come to you and me, as lost sinners, and say, “I am love, and I am rich in mercy. I love you, and I have provided by My mercy and a Savior for you.” Now if you will trust Him, “By grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). Salvation all stems from the love of God, but God does not save by His love or His mercy he saves us because He loves us. According to the scriptures the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) all we have without Gods' love is sin and death. In fact sin is the opposite of what God is and it is written our God is a consuming fire to sin ( see Hebrews 12:29 compare with Hebrews 10:26-31). So all sin is destroyed in the presence of God. But God is love and according to the scripture we see Gods' love also demonstrated in Gods' justice for sin. According to the scriptures, sin is defined as the transgression of anyone of God's 10 commandments (1 see Exodus 20:3-17; 1 John 3:4; James 2:10-11; Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7) and all of us have sinned *Romans 3:9-23 and the wages of sin is death *Romans 6:23 but God so loved our world that he gave us his only begotten son to die the death that we all deserve to die, to pay our penalty of death so that whosoever believes on His should not perish but have everlasting life *John 3:16. So even in Gods' judgement and justice for sin we see Gods' love given to all mankind by sending His only begotten son receive Gods' justice and judgement for sin so that everyone who simply holds out the hand of faith can receive Gods' forgiveness of sins because Jesus purchased them through His death so that we no longer have to die. God's love, mercy, grace, justice and judgement therefore are all revealed and given to us through Jesus as Gods' sinless lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world *John 1:29 so that whosoever believes better translated as "believing" on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. There is something else here that is important to see. Salvation is not only the expression of the love of God, but it is also an expression of His justice and righteousness. We not only need John 3:16, but we also need Romans 3:26: “To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus.” In order to justify you when you trust Christ, God has to be righteous and holy and just. He cannot simply open the back door of heaven and slip you in under cover of darkness. You and I are not fit for heaven. We are alienated from Him. We have no fellowship with Him. Communication broke down in the Garden of Eden, and He is the one who renewed it. Because He must be just and righteous, His mercy provided a Savior, and it was because He loves you. He can be righteous and do this — “that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus.” Therefore, John can write, “Grace be with you [that is the way God saves you], mercy [mercy provided a Savior], and peace [when you have all this, then the peace of God that passeth all understanding is going to keep your heart].” ........................ God love leads us to Gods mercy and grace, justice and judgement for sin. Gods' Grace and mercy is a free gift of Gods' great love for you and me. There is nothing we can do to earn it. It is a free gift to you as a sinner and God's love simply tells you to hold out your hand of faith and receive His gift of love and forgiveness for your sins through the gift of Gods' dear son in Jesus. Go now confess your sins before God and receive his gift of mercy, love and forgiveness that he paid for by His life, death and resurrection so that you believing in Jesus should never perish but receive Gods' gift of love and everlasting life *John 3:16; John 3:36; 1 John 1:9; Ephesians 2:8-9. .......................... WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? 1. BELIEVE GOD'S WORD AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR FROM SIN - That is believe better translated "believing" the Word of God. Jesus is the living Word of God (see John 1:1-4; 14) and it is by believing Gods' Word that we have Gods' salvation and forgiveness of sins and everlasting life (see John 17:17; John 3:16-36) Acts of the Apostles 16:30-31 And he brought them out and said "Sirs. what must I do to be saved? So they said "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved and your household" 2. CONFESS YOUR SINS - Confess your sins to God and ask God for His forgiveness because of Jesus paying the penalty for your sins through His death on the Cross. Accept Gods' free gift of forgiveness through faith in Jesus and His death and shed blood for your sins and believe His promise to you. 1 John 1:9 [9], If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 3. REPENT OF YOUR SINS - We cannot expect to receive Gods' forgiveness if we continue in practice known unrepentant sin. In order to receive Gods' forgiveness we need to repent of our sins. That is in heart (mind) turn away from practicing sin and live a new life believing and following what Gods' Word says. God will give us the power to walk in newness of life as we completely believe and depend on His Word and promises to change our lives and hearts so we can follow him. Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Acts of the Apostles 8:22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 4. GET BAPTIZED - Baptism is symbolic outward experience that we are to die to the old sinful nature to live in newness of life believing and following what God's Word says (Romans 6:1-23; Romans 3:31; Romans 8:1-4) it is a sign of Gods' new covenant promise of obedience to Gods' law through faith that works by love and is Gods' work in us as we continue believing and following his Words and believing His promises and are born again to walk in His Spirit by faith (see Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27; John 3:3-7 compare 1 John 3:4-9; John 17:17: John 6:63; Galatians 5:16). Act of the Apostles 2:38 Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5. SEEK FIRST FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS - Our lives now are Gods' and we are to walk in newness of life as we believe and follow what Gods' Word says. We are now God's children purchased with the precious blood of Jesus redeemed to walk in newness of life and holiness letting God save us from our sins. Now when we have problem we can go to God who is our Heavenly father who knows our needs even before we ask Him. Of course receiving Gods' promises are conditional on believing and following what Gods' Word says (Proverbs 28:9; 13) All God asks us is to put him first in our lives and continue believing and following His Word and seeking Him through His Word (see John 8:31-36). Prayer is your strength go and pray to your father in Heaven for all things and talk to him as your best friend. We may not always receive what we ask for but that is because God as your heavenly father knows what we need and sometimes what we want is not always best for us like a baby wanting to play with a shiny razor blade trust that God knows what is best for you. Matthew 6:33 [33], But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. Ask God to be your guide and teacher and to teach you His truth and claim His promises. God wants to be your teacher and will send you His Spirit to guide and teach you if you ask Him (see John 16:13; John 7:17; John 14:26; 1 John 3:27; Hebrews 8:11). 6. GROW IN THE FAITH IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WORD - When we first become "believing" Christians we are called "babes" in Christ because we do not know much about Gods' Word and the scriptures tell us "As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk you in him." - Colossians 2:6. We are to continue in the faith learning more about Gods' Word and believing and following what Gods' Word says and believing His promises. 1 Peter 1:2-8 [2], Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, [3], According as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue: [4], Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. [5], And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6], And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; [7], And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. [8], For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Beware of false teachings made by men to lead you away from God and His Word. Ask God to be your guide and teacher and to teach you His truth and claim His promises. God wants to be your teacher and will send you His Spirit to guide and teach you if you ask Him (see John 16:13; John 7:17; John 14:26; 1 John 3:27; Hebrews 8:11). 7. WHEN TEMPTATION COMES MAKE GOD YOUR REFUGE AND STRENGTH - When we first become Christians the devil will do all that he can to lead you back into sin and away from God and His Word to make you depart the faith. Fear not for God promises if you trust him and believing His promises to you that no one can pluck you out of His hand (see John 10:26-27). Draw near to God and prayer and he promises to draw near to you and pray when temptation comes God will help you (see Matthew 6:13). James 4:7-8 [7], Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8], Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." We will continue to have temptations to the end so put on the whole armor of God and trust that God can help and deliver you when temptation comes. James 1:12 [12], Blessed is the man that endures temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him. If you fall into temptation and sin fear not but continue believing God's Word and confess your sins to God. It is not Gods' will that we sin but if any man sin we have an advocate with the father, Jesus Christ the righteous. (1 John 1:9; 1 John 2:1-2; Proverbs 24:16) God loves you. Sabbath Observance Through The Centuries - The First Century A.D. INSTITUTION OF THE SABBATH "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." (Genesis 2:1-3 ) JESUS "And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read." (Luke 4:16) JESUS "And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." (Matthew 19:16,17) JESUS "But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the Sabbath day." (Matthew 24, 20). NOTE: Jesus asked his disciples to pray that in the flight from the doomed city of Jerusalem they would not have to flee on the Sabbath day. This flight took place in 70 A.D. 40 years after the Jesus' crucifixion and we see here that Jesus fully expected His church to be observing His true seventh day Sabbath that He Himself proclaimed to be the Lord of. JESUS' FOLLOWERS "And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment." (Luke 23:56.) Did these women make a mistake and keep the wrong sabbath or was it that Christ NEVER EVER hinted that there would be a change forthcoming??? PAUL "And Paul, as his manner was went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures" (Acts 17:2) Did Christ fail to inform Paul on the road to Damascus that there's now a new sabbath? Or rather does the silence of Christ speak volumes against the papal sabbath??? PAUL AND THE GENTILES "And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. And the next Sabbath came almost the whole city together to hear the Word of God." Acts 13:42, 44. Here we find Gentiles in a Gentile city gathering on the Sabbath. It was not a synagogue meeting in verse 44, for it says almost the whole city came together, verse 42 says they asked to hear the message the "next Sabbath." And get this: The Bible does not say it is the "old Jewish Sabbath that was passed away," but the Spirit of God, writing the Book of Acts some 30 years after the crucifixion, calls it "the next Sabbath." JOHN "I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day." Rev.1:10 (Matthew 12:6; Mark 2:28, Isa.58:13, Ex.20:10, Clearly show the Sabbath to be the Lord's day). The term "Lord's day" in reference to Sunday came later. The Biblical meaning for Lord's day is the day that God calls "My holy day" and the day that Jesus said He is Lord of. JOSEPHUS "There is not any city of the Grecians, nor any of the Barbarians, nor any nation whatsoever, whither our custom of resting on the seventh day hath not come!" Historically, Constantine did not change the day of worship as many claim. According to the historical records, Constantine made a civil Sunday law that the Roman Catholic Church adopted in order to practice and promote Sunday worship over the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment... First Sunday Law enacted by Emperor Constantine - March, 321 A.D. “On the venerable Day of the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in cities rest, and let all workshops be closed. In the country, however, persons engaged in agriculture may freely and lawfully continue their pursuits; because it often happens that another day is not so suitable for grain-sowing or for vine-planting; lest by neglecting the proper moment for such operations the bounty of heaven should be lost. Now a professed Christian, Constantine nevertheless remained a devout sun worshipper. “The sun was universally celebrated as the invincible guide and protector of Constantine,” notes Edward Gibbon in his classic Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, ch. xx, par. 3. Constantine even printed coins which “bore on the one side the letters of the name of Christ, on the other the figure of the sun god.” Arthur P. Stanley, History of the Eastern Church, lect. vi, par. 14. Again, Constantine’s promotion of Sunday observance was part of his definite strategy to combine paganism with Christianity: “The retention of the old pagan name of dies Solis, or 'Sunday,' for the weekly Christian festival, is in great measure owing to the union of pagan and Christian sentiment with which the first day of the week was recommended by Constantine to his subjects, pagan and Christian alike, as the ‘venerable day of the Sun.’” – Stanley’s History of the Eastern Church, p. 184. In spite of the rising popularity of Sunday sacredness, Church historian Socrates Scholasticus (5th century) wrote: “For although almost all churches throughout the world celebrate the sacred mysteries [of the Lord's Supper] on the Sabbath of every week, yet the Christians of Alexandria and at Rome, on account of some ancient tradition, have ceased to do this.” – Socrates Scholasticus, Ecclesiastical History, Book 5, ch. 22. Another historian also confirmed this by stating, “The people of Constantinople, and almost everywhere, assemble together on the Sabbath, as well as on the first day of the week, which custom is never observed at Rome or at Alexandria.” – Sozomen, Ecclesiastical History, Book 7, ch. 19. Thus even in the 5th century, Sabbath keeping was universally prevalent (except in Rome and Alexandria) along with Sunday keeping. Many Christians kept both days, but as the centuries wore on, Sunday keeping grew in prominence and especially within Roman Catholic territories. In 330 A.D., Constantine moved his capital from Rome to Constantinople (modern Istanbul), thus preparing the way for the Roman Catholic Popes to reign in Rome as the successors of Constantine. As the Papal Church grew in power, it opposed Sabbath observance in favour of Sunday sacredness and made the day change official in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 363-364). Constantine's law had now been fully integrated into the Papal Church and the final step of the Sabbath to Sunday change was complete. So around the year A.D. 364, the Catholic Church outlawed Sabbath keeping in the Council of Laodicea when they decreed 59 Canon laws. The following is the relevant Canon law: Canon XXIX: “Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.” (Percival Translation). Four hundred years after the death of Christ and one hundred years after Constantine's linking of Church and State by his Sunday law edict, Rome and Alexandria were the only places in the world where many of the Christians kept only Sunday and not the true Sabbath. Why was it that Rome and Alexandria were also the first locations that Sunday worship began? Because this is where the pagan practices of Babylon eventually landed after it was conquered. And what was the dominant pagan practice that the Babylonian priests brought with them? Sun worship which was done on Sun-day! See the history of Sunday worship for more detail. So one can understand why Rome and Alexandria did not bother to keep the true Sabbath as they had not done so for 200 years. Throughout the entire history of the changeover from Sabbath to Sunday, Rome and Alexandria had worked together. Alexandria provided the philosophical reasons for the changes and Rome provided the decrees and anathemas. Constantine's help was given only to the worldly Church leaders at Rome and those Christians that resisted the errors that were being introduced into the Church met with his opposition. “Unite with the bishop of Rome or be destroyed,” was Constantine's position. “Great as were the favors which Constantine showed to the church, they were only for that strong, close-knit, hierarchically organized portion that called itself Catholic. The various [so-called] heretical sects could look for no bounty from his hands.” – Williston Walker, A History of the Christian Church, page 105. The change of the Sabbath to Sunday was totally completed by the seventh century as the Popes consolidating their enormous power persecuted all who resisted their innovations. Did Satan use Constantine to play a key part in his plan to change the Sabbath to his day being Sunday? The answer is clear! From sun worship 2000 B.C., to Sunday worship in the Church. Satan infiltrated the Christian Church and most are oblivious to the fact that this has happened or understand the relevance. Here are some interesting facts for those who may be interested... After working the first six days of the week in creating this earth, the great God rested on the seventh day. (Genesis 2:1.3.) This stamped that day as God's rest day, or Sabbath day, as Sabbath day means rest day. To illustrate: When a person is born on a certain day, that day thus becomes his birthday. So when God rested upon the seventh day, that day became His rest, or Sabbath, day. Therefore the seventh day must always be God's Sabbath day. Can you change your birthday from the day on which you were born to one on which you were not born? No. Neither can you change God's rest day to a day on which He did not rest. Hence the seventh day is still God's Sabbath day. The Creator blessed the seventh day. (Genesis 2:3.) He sanctified the seventh day. (Exodus 20:11.) He made it the Sabbath day in the Garden of Eden. (Genesis 2:1-3.) It was made before the fall; hence it is not a type; for types were not introduced till after the fall. Jesus says it was made for man (Mark 2:27), that is, for the race, as the word man is here unlimited; hence, for the Gentile as well as for the Jew. It is a memorial of creation. (Exodus 20:11; 31:17.) Every time we rest upon the seventh day, as God did at creation, we commemorate that grand event. It was given to Adam, the head of the human race. (Mark 2:27; Genesis 2:1-3.) Hence through him, as our representative, to all nations. (Acts 17:26.) It is' not a Jewish institution, for it was made 2,300 years before ever there was a Jew. The Bible never calls it the Jewish Sabbath, but always "the Sabbath of the Lord thy God." Men should be cautious how they stigmatize God's holy rest day. Evident reference is made to the Sabbath and the seven-day week all, through the patriarchal age. (Genesis 2:l-3; 8:10,12; 29:27,28.etc.) It was a part of God's law before Sinai. (Exodus 16:4, 27-29.) Then God placed it in the heart of His moral law. (Exodus 20:1-17.) Why did He place it there if it was not like the other nine precepts, which all admit to be immutable? The seventh-day Sabbath was commanded by the voice of the living God. (Deuteronomy 4:12,13.) Then He wrote the commandment with His own finger. (Exodus 31:18.) He engraved it in the enduring stone, indicating its imperishable nature. (Deuteronomy 5:22.) It was sacredly preserved in the ark in the holy of holies. (Deuteronomy 10:1-5.) God forbade work upon the Sabbath, even in the most hurrying times. (Exodus 34:21.) God destroyed the Israelites in the wilderness because they profaned the Sabbath. (Ezekiel 20:12, 13.) It is the sign of the true God, by which we are to know Him from false gods. (Ezekiel 20:20.) God promised that Jerusalem should stand forever if the Jews would keep the Sabbath (Jeremiah 17:24, 25.) He sent them into the Babylonish captivity for breaking it. (Nehemiah 13:18.) He destroyed Jerusalem for its violation. (Jeremiah 17:27.) God has pronounced a special blessing on all the Gentiles who will keep it. (Isaiah 56:6, 7.) This is in the prophecy, which refers wholly to the Christian dispensation. (See Isaiah 56.) God has promised to bless all who keep the Sabbath. (Isaiah 56:2.) The Lord requires us to call it "honourable". (Isaiah 58:13.) Beware, ye who take delight in calling it the. “old Jewish Sabbath,” “a yoke of bondage,” etc. After the holy Sabbath has been trodden down "many generations,” it is to be restored in the last days. (Isaiah 58:12,13.) All the holy prophets kept the seventh day. When the Son of God came, He kept the seventh day all His life. (Luke 4:16; John 15:10.) Thus He followed His Father's example at creation. Shall we not be safe in following the example of both the Father and the Son? The seventh day is the Lord's Day. (See Revelation 1:10; Mark 2:28; Isaiah 58:13; Exodus 20:10.) Jesus was Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28), that is, to love and protect it, as the husband is the lord of the wife, to love and cherish her (1 Peter 3:6.) He vindicated the Sabbath as a merciful institution designed for man's good. (Mark 2:23-28.) Instead of abolishing the Sabbath, He carefully taught how it should be observed. (Matthew 12:1-13.) He taught His disciples that they should do nothing upon the Sabbath day but what was “lawful” (Matthew 12:12.) He instructed His apostles that the Sabbath should be prayerfully regarded forty years after His resurrection. (Matthew 24:20.) The pious women who had been with Jesus carefully kept the seventh day after His death. (Luke 23:56.) Thirty years after Christ's resurrection, the Holy Spirit' expressly calls it "the Sabbath day,"(Acts 13:14.) Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, called it the "Sabbath day" in A.D. 45. (Acts 13:27.) Did not Paul know? Or shall we believe modern teachers, who affirm that it ceased to be the Sabbath at the resurrection of Christ? Luke, the inspired Christian historian, writing as late as A.D. 62, calls it the "Sabbath day." (Acts 13:44.) The Gentile converts called it the Sabbath. (Acts 13:42.) In the great Christian council, A.D. 49, in the presence of the apostles and thousands of disciples, James calls it the "sabbath day." (Acts 15:21) It was customary to hold prayer meetings upon that day. (Acts 16:13.) Paul read the Scriptures in public meetings on that day. (Acts 17:2, 3.) It was his custom to preach upon that day. (Acts 17:2,3.) The Book of Acts alone gives a record of his holding eighty-four meetings upon that day. (See Acts 13:14, 44; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4. 11.) There was never any dispute between the Christians and the Jews about the Sabbath day. This is proof that the Christians still observed the same day that the Jews did. In all their accusations against Paul, they never charged him with disregarding the Sabbath day. Why did they not, if he did not keep it? But Paul himself expressly declared that he had kept the law. “Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all." Acts 25:8. How could this be true if he had not kept the Sabbath? The Sabbath is mentioned in the New Testament fifty-nine times, and always with respect, bearing the same title it had in the Old Testament, “the Sabbath day.” Not a word is said anywhere in the New Testament about the Sabbath's being abolished, done away, changed, or anything of the kind. God has never given permission to any man to work upon it. Reader, by what authority do you use - the seventh day for common labor? No Christian of the New Testament, either before or after the resurrection, ever did ordinary work upon the seventh day. Find one case of that kind, and we will yield the question. Why should modem Christians do differently from Bible Christians? There is no record that God has ever removed His blessing or sanctification from the seventh day. As the Sabbath was kept in Eden before the fall, so it will be observed eternally in the new earth after the restitution. (Isaiah 66:22, 23.) The seventh-day Sabbath was an important part of the law of God, as it came from His own mouth, and was written by His own finger upon stone at Sinai. (See Exodus 20.) When Jesus began His work, He expressly declared that He had not come to destroy the law. “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets.” Matthew 5:17 Jesus severely condemned the Pharisees as hypocrites for pretending to love God, while at the same tune they made void one of the Ten Commandments by their tradition. The keeping of Sunday is only a tradition of men. 40 Bible Facts Concerning the First Day of the Week The very first thing recorded In the Bible is work done on Sunday, the first day of the week. (Genesis l: l-5.) The Creator Himself did this. If God made the earth on Sunday, can it be wicked for us to work on Sunday? God commands men to work upon the first day of the week. (Exodus 20.8-11.) Is it wrong to obey God? None of the patriarchs ever kept it. None of the holy prophets ever kept it. By the express command of-God, His holy people used the first day of the week as a common working day for 4,000 years, at least. God Himself calls it a "working" day. (Ezekiel 46:1.) God did not rest upon it. He never blessed it. Christ did not rest upon it. Jesus was a carpenter (Mark 6:3), and worked at His trade until He was thirty years old. He kept the Sabbath and worked six days in the week, as all admit. Hence He did many a hard day’s work on Sunday. The apostles worked upon it during the same time. The apostles never rested upon it. Christ never blessed it. It has never been blessed by any divine authority. It has never been sanctified. No law was ever given to enforce the keeping of it, hence it is no transgression to work upon it. “Where no law is, there is no transgression.” Romans 4:15 (See also 1 John 3:4.) The New Testament nowhere forbids work to be done on it. No penalty is provided for its violation. No blessing is promised for its observance. No regulation is given as to how it ought to be observed. Would this be so if the Lord wished us to keep it? It is never called the Christian Sabbath. It is never called the Sabbath day at all. It is never called the Lord’s day. It is never called even a rest day. No sacred title whatever is applied to it. Then why should we call it holy? It is simply called “first day of the week.” Jesus never-mentioned it in any way, never took its name upon His lips, so far as the record shows. The word Sunday never occurs in the Bible at all. Neither God, Christ, nor inspired men ever said one word in favor of Sunday as a holy day. The first day of the week is mentioned only eight times in all the New Testament. (Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2,9; Luke 24:1; John 20:1, 19; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2.) Six of these texts refer to the same first day of the week. Paul directed the saints to look over their secular affairs on that day. (1Corinthians 16:2.) In all the New Testament we have a record of only one religious meeting held upon that day, and even this was a night meeting. (Acts 20:5-12.) There is not intimation that they ever held a meeting upon it before or after that. It was not their custom to meet on that day. There was no requirement to break bread on that day. We have an account of only one instance in which it was done. (Acts 20:7.) That was done in the night-after midnight. (Verses 7-11.) Jesus celebrated it on Thursday evening (Luke 22), and the disciples sometimes did it every day (Acts 2:42-46.) The Bible nowhere says that the first day of the week commemorates the resurrection of Christ. This is a tradition of men, which contradicts the law of God. (Matthew 15:1-9.) Baptism commemorates the burial and resurrection of Jesus. (Romans 6:3-5.) Finally, the New Testament is totally silent with regard to any change of the Sabbath day or any sacredness for the first day. ................... Note: This occurred after Jesus' death obviously, which is when the false teachers claim the law was done away. They say the law was "nailed to the cross", but His disciples obviously didn't believe that, as we see here, they "rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment" ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 13:14 when they (the apostles) departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day. ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath." Notice: the Gentiles (non-jews) wanted to hear the word of God on the next Sabbath. Paul DID NOT tell them, "Come back tomorrow, the first day of the week, because that's the day us Christians keep." He had them return the following SABBATH ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath day. ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 16:13 And on the Sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made. ACTS OF THE APOSTLES 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures. NEW EARTH ISAIAH 66:22-23 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. I realize this is an OT scripture, but as you can clearly see here, this is dealing with the new heavens and new earth (after Christ's return) and it states that all of Gods' people shall keep the Sabbath then. It therefore seems quite preposterous, that God would give the seventh day Sabbath to mankind at creation (Genesis 2:1-3), re-introduce it to Israel BEFORE Sinai - after they lost sight of it in captivity (Exodus 16:4-23; 27-29), codify it at Sinai (Exodus 20:1-17) having all His people observe it, including Christ, then change it to Sunday, just to change it back to Friday sunset - Saturday sunset in the new earth. WHAT IS THE GREEK MEANING OF THE LORD'S DAY? There seems to be some debate and confusion over which day "the Lords day" is referring to in Revelation 1:10 the meaning of the scripture from Greek to English is translated from the KJV Revelation 1:10 [10], εγενόμην εν πνεύματι εν τη κυριακή ημέρα και ήκουσα φωνήν οπίσω μου μεγαλήν ως σάλπιγγος Revelation 1:10 [10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet. In the Koine Greek, "the Lords day" κυριακή (kyriakós; G2960) ημέρα (hēméra: G2250) simply means the day belonging to the Lord or the Lord's ownership of "the day". The word "κυριακη" (translit. "kuriake") is an Adjective - Dative - Singular - Feminine. This means it is being used as a 'possessive' as ownership or belonging to ("of", see 1 Corinthians 11:20, "the Lord's supper"), which means the "day" in context belongs to "the Lord". It is literally "the Lord's (belonging to) day". This means, that the "day" in context is uniquely "the Lord's" out of all the 7 days of the week, for the day under consideration is that which exists within the week, as a day which repeats weekly. This is extremely important, as those who incorrectly assume it to mean "the first [day] of the week" in lieu of Jesus' resurrection, cannot get a weekly occurrence out of a one-time event, in fulfillment of typology of the Firstfruit/Wavesheaf in Leviticus 23:9-14, as made known in 1 Corinthians 15:20; 23 WHAT DAY IS THE LORD'S DAY ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT? With the above Koine Greek meanings in mind the next question can be considered. What day is "the Lords day" referring to from the scriptures that the Lord specifically claims ownership of? Matthew 12:8 For THE SON OF MAN IS LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY So according to the very words of Jesus in the scriptures "the Lords day" is the Sabbath day. Here we can see Jesus claiming that he is the Lord of the Sabbath day, taking ownership which is the meaning of κυριακή ημέρα (the Lords ownership of the Sabbath day) John in Revelation 1:10 is referring to Jesus as creator of heaven and earth by calling Jesus the Lord of the Sabbath just as he did in John 1:1-4; 14. We have seen above from the new testament scriptures that Jesus claims to the the Lord of the Sabbath day. That is he claims to be the God of creation and the Lord of the Sabbath claiming ownership of of the Sabbath day which is the meaning of κυριακή ημέρα (the Lords ownership of the day). According to the scriptures of the new testament Jesus is claiming ownership of the Sabbath day. In the old testament God has also always claimed ownership of the Sabbath day has His... WHY DOES GOD AND JESUS CLAIM OWNERSHIP OF THE SABBATH DAY? Why then does God and Jesus claim ownership of the Sabbath day (Revelation 1:10 κυριακή ημέρα)? [Referring to Genesis 2:1-3] God claims ownership of the Sabbath because on it he rested from creating the heavens and the earth where he blessed the Sabbath as a holy day of rest for all mankind as a memorial of creation and a celebration of God as the creator of Heaven and earth (Mark 2:27-28). CONCLUSION The "Lords day" is the Sabbath day according to the scriptures. There is no scriptural links to "the Lords day" in Revelation 1:10 being in reference to "Sunday" or the "the first day of the week". In Revelations 1:10 "Lords Day κυριακῇ ἡμέρᾳ does not link to any scripture reference in the NEW TESTAMENT to μιά των σαββάτων (the FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK). In Revelation 1:10 κυριακῇ ἡμέρᾳ is used in reference to the Lord's ownership of the day which as shown above from the scriptures from both the old and new testament that the day Jesus and God claims ownership of is the Sabbath day. Revelation 1:10 says no where in the scriptures that this day is in reference to μιά των σαββάτων which means the first day of the week. The claim that "the Lords day" is Sunday is a teaching and tradition of men that is not supported in the scriptures. .................... CHALLENGE FOR THOSE WHO CLAIM SUNDAY IS THE LORD'S DAY Your challenge here is that if you disagree with the scriptures provided above that prove that "the Lords day" from Revelation 1:10 is the Sabbath day, please provide a single scripture from God's Word showing that "the Lords day" in Revelation 1:10 is referring to Sunday or the first day of the week. Scripture only please as we know what the man-made teachings and traditions of men are in regards to "the Lords day" from sources outside of the bible. Let's look at some interesting scriptures comparing the times that Jesus lived in to our time today. The very same topics that we discuss here was also discussed in the day of Jesus. The mainstream preachers of Christ's time all claimed to be Children of God because their claim was that they were the Children of Abraham therefore they are Gods' people. This was their claim to being God's people. JOHN 8:33-45 [33] They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how say thou, Ye shall be made free? They claimed belief on the God of Abraham, they claimed to be in bondage to no man. But what did Jesus tell them? [34] Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. [39] They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. [40] But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. [41] Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. [44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. [45] And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. There is more on this engagement between Jesus and the Mainstream teachers of His day who claimed to be God's children because they were the children of Abraham in John 8. Certainly the Pharisees studied the bible as it existed then as did Jesus. Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Yet these two factions, Jesus and the mainstream religious teachers of His time had almost opposite understandings of the Bible. It is fair to say not all Jews of that time had the same understanding as the mainstream religious teachers of the day. Luke 1:5-6 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. [6] And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. So there seems to be a trend here. The mainstream religious teachers all claimed to be God's people, they read God's Words, yet they "Transgressed the Commandments of God by their own doctrines and traditions." (Matthew 15:3-9) Yet there is no indication that Zacharias or Jesus did this and followed them or their teachings and traditions. So we have one example of understanding that was gained by study in obedience to the instructions in God's Word, ( Zacharias and Jesus), And another example of study in disobedience to the instructions of God's Word by following man-made teachings and traditions that led many away from God and His Word. (Mainstream preachers of that time - see Matthew 15:3-9) There were more than just Zacharias. Matthew 2:1-2 1, Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, [2] Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. Here is another example of people who had a completely different understanding than the mainstream religious teachers of that time. Is it wrong to assume that they, like Zacharias, also studied in obedience to the instruction? And Peter, which side of this topic did he fall on? Acts 5:32-33 [32], And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. [33] When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them. Now why was it that the Jews sought to persecute Jesus and the prophets? It was because they refused to obey the instruction of God, and created their own instructions, and the other example did not. So fast forward to today. We have mainstream religious teachers today still teaching that "Transgression of God's Commandments by following their own traditions and doctrines." This is not a judgment, rather, a simple fact. It is mainstream Christian Tradition to transgress God's 4th commandment Sabbath of the 10 commandments that give us a knowledge of what sin is *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 and replace it with the Catholic Sabbath of Sunday worship. It is mainstream Christian Tradition to create images of God in the likeness of some long haired men's shampoo model, transgressing the first and greatest commandment. It is mainstream Christian Tradition to transgress God's Food Laws, and create their own definition of what is clean and unclean. So it seems that even today, if a person studies in obedience to God's simple instructions he see's the scripture one way. If a person studies scripture in disobedience following the traditions and teachings of man in place of God's Word and to God's simple instructions, he sees the scripture in another way. I believe what Peter taught, that the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Truth) is given to those who do not "Transgress the Commandments of God by their own religious doctrines and traditions. But I also know from Peter and Jesus that this belief will infuriate "many" who come in Christ's/God's name. [23] "When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them." Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endures to the end shall be saved." My hope is that you might consider these words and understand. John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (Is it evil or righteous to transgress the commandments of God by doctrines and traditions of men?) [20] For every one that does evil (Transgress God's Commandments by their own Traditions) hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Is this why the Mainstream preachers of Peters time set about to kill or silence Peter, so he wouldn't expose their transgression of God's Commandments? [21] But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest,.(let your light shine) that they are wrought in God. So a circle is complete once again. Those who live a doctrine created (wrought) by God have a different understanding than those who live a doctrine created by man who follow the traditions of man. The simple answer to this is absolutely! According to the scriptures our salvation is conditional to believing and obeying what God's Word says. Of course when we are babes in Christ and do not know any better, in times of ignorance God winks at until he gives us a knowledge of the truth of His Word at which time he calls us all to believe and follow what His Word says *see James 4:7; Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31. At this point if God gives us a knowledge of the truth of His Word we choose to reject it in unbelief and continue in sin then God holds us accountable for sin *compare Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31 with Hebrews 10:26-31. So our salvation is conditional to continuing in the faith and believing and following what God's Word says. IS OUR SALVATION CONDITIONAL? I believe that God's salvation is conditional on believing and following what God's Word says.. When I was very young as a boy I remember going to Sunday school at a Church and one day my parents got me a bible and I remembered thinking wow this is "the Words of God". I treasured that first bible and was in awe of it thinking how lucky I was and from time to time I read some of it. After some time we stopped going to Church and as I started growing older I forgot about God and lost my first bible and started exploring all that the world had to offer which led me further and further away from God and His Word into the snares of all that the world had to offer until I had become a slave to sin. After some more time I remember being on a bus in Sydney, Australia with some friends thinking that there must be more to our short life than eating, drinking, partying, sleeping and working and dying but at this stage I had become an atheist thinking that to believe in God meant that I had to have a blind faith and that there was no proof of God and use to argue with Christians telling them they believed in something that did not exist. Time for me continued to pass and as I began to grow older I tried to seek the meaning of life through other religions but was never happy with the answers that any of them offered, By this time I moved away from Sydney, Australia, tired of all the hustle and bustle of city living to Northern New South Wales. I found myself making friends with those who lived a hippy lifestyle curious about what they had to offer on the meanings of life. After some time I began to realize that all the world had to offer was emptiness, and loneliness. I remembered hearing about some of my school friends dying in drunken car accidents or drug overdoses and being very sad for them. For me at this time I remember thinking that in my life there was only happiness in the moment of the sins I practiced but this happiness never lasted and I had become a slave to me sins in order to find happiness. There was no peace and a feeling of separation that I could never understand or explain. I remember one day after some time, finding a bible and began reading it, although at this time in my life I never went to any Church to seek or find God. I was curious as to the feeling and happiness I once found as a little boy and had since lost. As I continued reading Gods' Word prayerfully asking for God's guidance, for the very first time I began to find meaning to the purpose of life and that there was much more to what I thought life was all about and my life began to change forever. As I continued reading the scriptures, I remember reading that sin is described in the bible as breaking God's law and anything of His commandments and not believing and following what God's Word says and that all of us have sinned and fall short of God's glory *Romans 3:9-23; 1 John 3:4; James 2:10-11; Romans 14:23 and that the wages of my sins was death *Romans 6:23. At this stage I had a knowledge of what sin was from the scriptures and that according to the scriptures breaking God's law was sin and all of us had sinned therefore I was a sinner. I prayed and asked God to forgive me and repented from my sins in my heart and decided to follow God through His Word. I think for me at this time in my life, reading my bible from home, God was teaching me that the more I tried to follow His Word the more he was showing me that I could not obey His Words and the more I saw myself as a sinner unable to do what God wanted me to do. It was through Gods' law that I saw that I was a sinner under God's condemnation and death there was nothing that I could ever hope to do to save myself. The more I tried to keep Gods law the more I saw myself condemned by the law (Romans 7) until one day this experience as painful as it was brought me to the foot of the cross crying out "Oh wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from this body of death?" (Romans 7:24). It was here looking up at the cross where I saw Jesus in my mind and heard His Word to me "the just shall live by faith." Faith in what? I saw for the first time Jesus shedding His blood for my sins so that I could receive God's forgiveness. He gave me His life when all I had was death and by His stripes I saw for the first time I was healed. Not because of anything I had done but because He loved me and gave himself for me. This is where Gods' Law brought me. It brought me to Christ so that all I could so is call out "Lord have mercy on me a sinner". Then I looked up and could see, and my eyes were opened for the first time see Jesus dying for my sins even me, so that I could be reconciled to God. This is where my whole life changed and that change took place as I was seeking Him through his Words and believed them. This is where Gods' law brought me so that I could understand the words of Jesus in Matthew 9:12-13 for the first time. I was not brought up in any Church and did not start going to any Church for some time but after some time reading my bible I was thinking to go out and join a Church. During this time as I continued prayerfully reading my bible I came across some scripture that troubled me that I could not get out of my mind. The scriptures were talking about the last days just before Jesus returned and said that in these last days there will be many false prophets and false Christs that if it was possible they shall deceive Gods' very elect (Matthew 24:24). At the time I read these scriptures I was not going to any Church. I was just reading my bible at home but they troubled me very much because I was thinking of going out to join a Church somewhere but I did not know which one God wanted me to join. When I read these scriptures in Matthew 24:24 I believe God showed me their interpretation at that time as in the last days before He returns there would be many false prophets being messengers or teachers claiming they were from God that have false teachings and that these false Christs represented false Christian Churches (e.g. Christ being the head of the body which is the church - Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18) and that many would be lost by following what these Churches were teachings. Then as I was considering these scriptures one day, I remember thinking that all the Churches of the world all are all professing to be the chosen ones of God. In a recent Christian religion consensus I remember reading that there is today somewhere around 40,000 different Churches all professing to be Gods true Church that have the truth of Gods' Word! Now I do no know how true those figures are but to me even if there was 20 churches all professing to be Gods' true Church that is 19 too many right? So I was very troubled in my mind because I did not want to follow false teachings and be lost to God. I prayed to God saying dear God help me. How am I going to know who your true Church is? I barely know your word and how am I ever going to find who your true Church is? I wanted to follow God but I knew I was never going to find Him if he did not help me and if he did not help me it would be impossible for me to find the truth of His Word. Looking back now with tears in my eyes I see how God answered my prayers and was with me, hearing and answering my prayers guiding me and teaching me through His Word. Not long after I prayed to God, as I was continuing reading His Word I came across some promises from God's Word that really helped encourage me to have believe God was leading and guiding me. These promises seemed to speak to me again just like the scripture from Matthew 24:24 that troubled me into thinking how am I ever going to know the truth of God's Word? These scriptures that really spoke to me next were... John 14:26 [26], But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you. John 16:13 [13], However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. John 7:17 [17], If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 8:31-32 [31], Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed, [32], And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. .................... When I read these scriptures, I felt like God had heard my prayers and knew my thoughts and how I was feeling and was talking to me through his Word personally. I now had hope and was happy and relieved that God promised to be my guide and teacher to help me to know the truth of His Word and that I did not need to be worried if I trusted Him about being deceived into not knowing what His truth is. I knew I had a part to play and that was to seek Him and claim His promises through His Word and that was to seek Him and continue to find Him through His Word (John 8:31-36; Matthew 6:33; Jeremiah 29:12-13). I started claiming His promises above as I was reading His Word and slowly but surely started learning more of His Word. I asked God, praying dear God thank you for these promises but who is your true Church? I know I cannot find who your true Church is unless you guide me and teach me and show me who they are? I continued over some time reading God's Word and found these scriptures which seemed to stay with me that seemed to describe who Gods Church was according to the scriptures here. GOD'S TRUE CHURCH DEFINED IN THE SCRIPTURES God’s people are described as God’s sheep that hear believe and follow Gods Word *John 10:26-27 God’s people are described as God’s saints that keep the commandments of God and the faith or teachings of Jesus *Revelation 14:12. God’s people are described as those who the dragon (devil) is making war with because they keep the commandments of God *Revelation 12:17 God’s people are described as having the testimony of JESUS which is the Spirit of Prophecy. They know the end day prophecies *Revelation 19:10 God’s people are described as being blessed because they washed their robes in the blood of the lamb *1 Peter 1:18-19; Revelation 7:14; Revelation 12:11; Revelation 22:14 God’s people are described as being blessed because they keep Gods commandments and receive eternal life *Revelation 22:14 God’s people are described as being born again and do not practice sin (breaking Gods’ commandments) *1 John 3:6-9 The different between the children of God and the children of the devil is that the children of God do not practice sin (breaking God’s commandments) and the children of the devil do *1 John 3:6-10. ………………………. The question we all must consider is how do we know we know God and are Gods saints according to the scriptures? Well Gods saints are in every Church who are living up to all the light of the knowledge of Gods’ Word that God has revealed to them and in times of ignorance when we do not know any better God winks at but when God gives us a knowledge of His Word he calls all men everywhere to believe and follow it *Acts of the Apostles 17:30-31; James 4:17. Many do not know that the religious teachers of the world of fallen away from God’s Word in order to follow man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God. BABYLON is described as being fallen. The mother church and her daughters *Revelation 14:8; Revelation 17:1-5. She has changed times and law *Danial 7:25 and supplanted her own day of worship for which there is no scripture in place of God’s 4th commandment which is one of God’s 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4. God has his people in all of these Church’s and is calling his people out of Babylon from following the traditions and teachings of men back to the pure Word of God. *Revelation 18:1-5. The hour is coming and now is that the true worshipers will worship God in Spirit and in truth. God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. *John 10:16; John 4:23-24. THE TEST TO KNOW IF WE KNOW GOD 1 John 2:3-4 [3], And HEREBY WE KNOW THAT WE KNOW HIM, IF WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. [4], HE THAT SAITH, I KNOW HIM, AND KEEPS NOT HIS COMMANDMENTS, IS A LIAR, AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN HIM According to the scriptures, in times of ignorance God winks at but when he gives us a knowledge of the truth of his Word calls all men everywhere to believe and follow. God’s sheep hear His voice (the Word) and follow it. ............... SUMMARY: I became a Sabbath keeper because I believe God guided me through His Word and this was my personal experience and testimony! God's Church through faith according to the scriptures keep all the commandments of God not some of them according to the scriptures and this is the difference between 99% of all the Churches of the Word. - YES the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment! 99% of the Churches of the Word have departed Gods' Word and are following man-made teachings and traditions that are leading them away from Gods' Word to break His commandments. Gods people are in every Church but the hour is coming and now is that the true worshipers will worship the father in Spirit and in truth. God is calling us all out from following false teachings and traditions to return to His Word and follow Him in Spirit and in truth *Revelation 18:4 May God bless you as you prayerfully seek Him through His Word. Universalism is a dangerous doctrine that is going through mainstream Christianity that you will find entrenched in many Church's of the world today. Why is Universalism a dangerous teachings? Very simply, Universalism goes against the plain teachings of the bible in opposition to Gods' Word and teaches that all the wicked and unbelieving will be saved in disobedience and sin. In essence Universalism is repeating the same lies spoken to Eve in the Garden of Eden when the Serpent said that you can disobey Gods' Word and not surely die *Genesis 3:1-5 even after God tells us that the wages unrepentant disobedience and unbelief which is sin is death *Romans 6:23; Genesis 3:3; see John 3:36. What we see here is a false teachings that we are warned against that is designed to lead us away from God and His Word into sin and unbelief that has it's origins from the father of lies. So what does the bible actually teach happens to the wicked who continue in known unrepentant sin and unbelief? Let's prayerfully see what Gods' Word teaches on this subject and let Gods' Word do the talking without any interpretation of the scriptures. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WICKED AT THE SECOND COMING ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES? WICKED SHALL BE DESTROYED Psalms 145:20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him, but all the wicked He shall destroy Psalms 101:8 I will early destroy all the wicked of the land, that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord Psalms 37:9-11 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait on the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yes, you shall diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Proverbs 14:11, The house of the wicked shall be destroyed: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish. Psalms 37:38 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together; the end of the wicked shall be cut off Psalms 92:7 When the wicked spring as the grass and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish, it is that they shall be destroyed forever Psalms 94:23 He has brought back their wickedness upon them And will destroy them in their evil. The Lord our God will destroy them. Proverbs 13:13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed; but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded Proverbs 10:29 The way of the Lord is strength to the upright, but destruction shall be the workers of iniquity. Hosea 7:13 Woe to them, for they have strayed from Me! Destruction is theirs, for they have rebelled against Me! I would redeem them, but they speak lies against Me Philippians 1:28 in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. Philippians 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things 2 Peter 2:3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2:12 But these, like unreasoning animals, born as creatures of instinct to be captured and killed, reviling where they have no knowledge, will in the destruction of those creatures also be destroyed 2 Peter 3:7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. Jude 1:10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power. THEY SHALL PERISH Psalms 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs. They shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away Psalms 1:4 The wicked are not so,But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. Palms 1:6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish. Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Revelation 22:14-15 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loves and makes a lie. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, jealousies, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, Contentions, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Ephesians 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous that is, an idolater, has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death ................. Dear friends in the Lord Jesus the scriptures are plain and need no interpretation. You make up your own mind. It is time to leave the lies. There is no second chances for the unrepentant wicked at the second coming as the scriptures teach us in Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Universalism is a man-made teaching that makes a mockery of the cross and Gods' justice and judgement for sin and is a false teaching designed to lead all those who follow it away from God and His Word. The false teachings of Universalism are simply the same lies given to mankind in Genesis 3:1-5 that we can disobey God and no surely die. This is the same lie given to Eve simply re marketed under the name of "Universal Reconciliation" which teaches the same lies that we can disobey Gods Word and not surely die.
