1. What is the meaning of God's Grace?
GREEK WORD χάρις; charis khar'-ece From G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude: - acceptable, benefit, favour, gift, grace (-ious), joy liberality, pleasure, thank (-s, -worthy).
HEBREW WORD חן; chên khane From H2603; graciousness, that is, subjectively kindness, favor or objectively (beauty): - favour, grace (-ious), pleasant, precious, [well-] favoured.
According to the Greek and Hebrew word meanings, Grace is unmerited favour leading to a change of behaviour. God's GRACE IS FOR OBEDIENCE to GOD'S WORD in those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW it to save us from our sins and the penalty of sin (death) and our sinful nature through our LORD JESUS CHRIST!
2. Why do we need God's Grace?
We need Gods Grace mercy and love because all of us have sinned and the wages of sin is death which is the penalty for not believing God's Word or breaking anyone of God's commandments - Romans 3:9-20; Romans 6:23; Romans 14:23; 1 John 3:4; James 2:10-11
We need God's grace because all of us are sinners awaiting God's judgement and penalty for sin - Romans 3:9-10; Hebrews 10:26-27; Romans 6:23
Without God's grace, mercy and love we have no hope - Ephesians 2:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:13
3. How do we receive God's grace and forgiveness of sins?
We receive Gods' grace for forgiveness of sins through faith, simply as we believe Gods' promises in His Word. God's grace and forgiveness of sin is a free gift of God's love that we receive by holding out the hand of faith to receive it. There is nothing we can do to earn it as it was purchased for us by the death of Gods' dear son on our behalf Ephesians 2:8-9
We receive God's grace through faith as we believe and follow God's instructions to confess our sins to Him in prayer and repent from our sins 1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13
4. Why has God given us His Grace?
God gives us His grace for forgiveness of sin that are past Romans 3:25
God gives us His grace so that we can be obedient to the faith Romans 1:5
So we can be born again into God's new covenant promise so that we can believe His Word to be obedient to His laws see John 3:3-7; compare 1 John 3:3-10; Romans 3:31; Romans 8:4; Hebrews 8:10-12 from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Ezekiel 36:24-27
So he can save us from our sins as we walk in His Spirit Galatians 5:16; Romans 8:4; John 15:1-5; 1 John 3:6-9; John 10:26-27; Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4; 14
5. How does God's Grace link to God's law?
God's law is Gods' standard righteousness when obeyed and sin when broken and gives us the knowledge of good (moral right doing) and evil (moral wrong doing); sin (moral wrong doing) and righteousness (moral right doing) Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Psalms 119:172
God's law is the school master that leads us to Christ as sinners that we might be forgiven through faith to receive Gods' grace and shows us that we are all sick with sin and in need of God's salvation and the great physician for healing of sin. Galatians 3:22-25; Matthew 9:12-13; Romans 3:9-23; Romans 6:23
God's law shows our need of God's salvation and that without Jesus we can do nothing at all *James 1:22-25; Matthew 9:12-13; Romans 3:20; Romans 6:23; John 15:1-5
6. How does God's grace reveal God's love for all mankind?
While we were yet sinners under penalty of death the God of creation and heaven and earth, choose to leave His throne not willing that anyone of us should perish, came to live in a world of sin and suffering, to die the death we all deserve to die for our sins to pay the penalty for our sins so that we can be brought back to God and receive Gods' gift of eternal life *John 3:16-36
God commends His love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Jesus purchased our sins and the penalty of sin (death) with His own life, blood and death on the cross so that we can receive God's grace and forgiveness of sins simple by believing His Word *Romans 5:8; Romans 3:36; Romans 6:23
7. How does God's Grace reveal God's love and mercy through Gods justice and judgement for sin?
God's great love and mercy is revealed through Gods' justice and judgement for sin because the wages of sin is death but God so loved us that He was not willing that anyone of us should perish and choose to lay down His life as the king of Heaven and earth and pay the death penalty of our own sins with His own life so that we can be reconciled to God through the death of God's own son. Therefore Gods' grace, love and mercy is revealed through Gods' justice and judgement for sin in sending Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins so that we, simply by believing Gods' promise of forgiveness can be brought back to God in peace to believe and follow Gods' Word and receive Gods' gift of everlasting life *Romans 6:23; 1 John 3:16; John 3:16-18; John 3:36; Romans 5:10; 2 Corinthians 5:18-20; Colossians 1:21-23.
God's grace, mercy and love is revealed through God's justice and judgement for sin seen only in at the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ in God sending His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life *John 3:16-18. The question that comes to all of us is, will we accept the free gift of God's dear son revealed in Gods' grace that we simply receive by holding out the hand of faith and believing and following God's promises or will we reject God's grace and continue in unbelief and sin?
May God bless you
1 Grace...............a quality of kindness/long-suffering which resides in God towards his Creation
2 Mercy...............applies to the undeserving ...otherwise it is a trade.
3 Love.................not that we loved but that God loved us.....who? the undeserving.
4 Judgment.......God values those he made in his image more than his own life. Any negative determination (judgement ) is made by us to Godward ie, we judge God as being angry with the undeserving.....then we (man) superimpose that sentiment onto God as if God is the one angry ......requiring appeasing.
Eg....Adam and Eve hid themselves because they were fearful even while God was looking and calling for them..... God asked, who told you were naked? Gen.3:11......it certainly wasn't God.
5 Justice.............liberation from oppression......as opposed to revenge/payback
Grace and Power are linked together, for overcoming:
Acts 4:33 KJB - And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJB - And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Ephesians 3:7 KJB - Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
Romans shares more on this.
God's Grace, Mercy, love, judgment and justice
Is there a difference or do we interpret the terms according to a human paradigm?
